Final pre-Everest expedition flagged off

IMPHAL, August 23: “My dream has come true”, said Dr L Surjit Singh in his key-note address at the flagging off ceremony of the final pre-Everest expedition to Mt Papsura Peak (6445 metre) of the Himachal Himalayan at the MMTA, Minuthong today.

Dr L Surjit will be leading the North East team in the expedition.

He continued that the expedition which will be participated by 17 members from the region including four from the state will be a part of the preparation for the 2013 Mt Everest expedition.

The flagging off ceremony has been organized by the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association under the NEC and the Manipur Planning department.

The ceremony was attended by NYK, Ministry of YAS, government of India, Vice Chairman, L Tilotama Devi, Tourism Commissioner, Dr Rajesh Kumar and state Planning Director, Dr Th Munindro as the chief guest, president and guest of honour, respectively.
