IMPHAL, August 19: The state Chief Minister today announced to accord Olympian status to hockey player from state Kh Kothajit during the Olympians reception ceremony today at the Khuman lampak Indoor stadium.
Tendering his apology to the Olympian, his family members and the people of the state, the state Chief Minister who also holds the additional portfolio of Sports today said the misunderstanding regarding Kothajit’s status has been due to an overlooking on the part of the state government.
Further regretting that Kothajit has been left out from the reception ceremony, he said the government will consider announcing the same job offer and cash incentive for Kothajit.
