KAMA foundation day observed

IMPHAL, August 7: The 9th foundation day of the Kabui Mothers’ Association was held today at the Keishamthong Kabui Khul, community hall.

The function was attended by Tamenglong MLA, Jahenlung Pamei and KAMA president Kakonlunglu as chief guest and president respectively.  

In her key-note address, KAMA general secretary, Ranjita Golmei said KAMA was formed on August 7, 2004 with the main objective to bring peace and unity amongst the people of the hills and the valley of the state.

KAMA started its journey by joining in the agitation against the brutal rape and murder of Th Manorama by the security forces.

KAMA had also taken active part in any state related agitations spearheaded by the civil society organizations.

She continued that KAMA had also taken active part in the demand for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit in the state by organizing sit in protest at Paona Bazar.

Meanwhile, speaking at the function, the Tamenglong MLA expressed his pleasure over the cooperation between KAMA and other valley based civil society organizations in taking up state issues.

He further lauded the various civil societies for empowering KAMA and for allowing KAMA active participation in their various journeys on various issues related to the state.

He urged the various civil society organizations of the state both from the Hills and the valley areas to unite and bring peace and harmony amongst the various communities residing in the state.
