Manipur.IMPHAL, Aug 2: Khoibu Tribe Union has condemned the fierce gunfight that took place between the Assam Rifles personnel and armed militants on July 29 at Khoibu Centre in Chandel district.

A release of the union stated that the violent incident has inflicted severe human casualties including the innocent civilians, unleashed fear psychosis and trauma to the women and children, harassment and wrongful detention of innocent youth besides damaging the properties and houses of the poor villagers.

Both the AR personnel and UG militants fired from their sophisticated weapons, including mortar and bombs entangling all unarmed villagers literally inside a battlefield. Such intrusion and gunfight precisely inside the community settlement area without giving any safe passage of civilians, children and women is highly unscrupulous and unjustifiable.

The Union appealed all state and non-state actors concerned not to repeat such tormenting action in the future and urge upon the authorities concerned to provide immediate support to T Shelnaingam alias Moshel who was injured in the gunfight.
