Maoist cadre “caught and killed”

IMPHAL, August 31: The Maoist Communist Party, Manipur (MCP) paid revoluntionary salute to the departed soul of their Napet Unit leader Moirangthem Ibomcha, alias Athoiba, 33 years, son of Moirangthem Kumar of Lamlai Napet who died ealier on 29 August at Laphupokpi of Baruni hills.

In a statement issued to the press issued by their secretary publicity and propaganda, Nonglen Meitei claimed that Ibomcha was killed after arrest and not in an encounter as reported.

Ibomcha was arrested by a team of Imphal district commando in civil dress who came together with representatives of Imphal Ukhrul bus services in an auto, the statement said.

It further said, the police team in civilian dress and armed with AK47 jumped down from the auto rickshaw and arrested Ibomcha.

A sum of Rs One lakh along with a 9 mm pistol, 5 detonators, 57 gelatine sticks were with Ibomcha when he was arrested, the statement said.

The publicity and propaganda secretary further condoled the untimely demise of their leader and shared the bereavement of the deceased family and further stated the tragic incident would renew and strengthened their revolutionary movement.
