Protest against abduction

IMPHAL, Aug 3: Women folks today staged a sit-in-protest demonstration at Pheidinga Lamkhai in Imphal West decrying the abduction two masons engaged in the construction works of a new RCC bridge at Phumlou.

The protestors demanded the organization concerned to stop harassing common people for money. They also demanded safe release of the two masons at the earliest. 

It may be mentioned that suspected cadres of a faction of KCP (MC) abducted the two masons involved in the construction of a new RCC bridge at Phumlou Siphai in between Mayang Langjing and Phumlou under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West.

According to information received from the spot, the abducted masons were Huidrom Khambaton, 30, son of H Kullachandra, Itham Nungoi in Imphal East and Sapam Meiraba, 40, son of S Girani of Loitang Khunou in Imphal West.

The two masons were abducted by the militants five days back for a monetary demand of Rs. 15 lakhs.

A team of Imphal West Police in about 40 gypsies led by Additional SP (Ops) Md Ishak Shah had conducted rescue operations in various parts of Imphal West, however the abducted masons could not be rescued till the filing of this report.
