IMPHAL, August 24: In response to an IFP report Superintending Engineer of PHED Thokchom Lokeshwar has clarified that the delay in the Imphal Sewage project is because of the financial crunch faced by the government.
SE Lokeshwar met the councillor of Ward no 1 and the members of Naharol Leisemba Club and explained to them the reasons behind the delay in the sewage project in Watham Leirak today evening.
In the morning he inspected the road conditions and restoration work being taken up at Thangmeiband Watham Leirak stretch.
He said, the main reason why the work is taking so long to complete is because of the financial crunch.
He however assured the people of the locality that he will do whatever he could to resolve the problems affecting the people in the area.
He further said that he will keep in touch with the President of the club so that both sides can work together and help each other for the betterment of the people.
He plans to install a complaint box in this area so that people can submit their grievances in these boxes.
He did agree that the project has taken a longer time than expected and that the people are facing problems because of it, but the project has come to its final stages and that the finishing of the road will be taken up by PWD.
He informed that in Jan 2013, the French technicians from the French Government will arrive and hopefully by June 2013, the operation will start. Although this might be delayed as drainage pipes still needs to be installed in each and every locality.
