IMPHAL, August 26: A team of of Imphal East Commando arrested a URF cadre, Huidrom Shantikumar Singh, alias Panmei, 37 years, s/o H Kunjo Singh of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai from a place near the Community Hall at Kongpal Chanam Leikai yesterday are 5:30 pm, a statement issued by Kamei Angam Romanus, SP Imphal East stated today.
The statement further added that two extortion notes signed jointly by s/s Asst Secy Central finance, Lankhomba and s/s OC, Lemba Meitei of the captured outfit were recovered from the arrested cadre.
Shantikumar was earlier jailed for 11 (eleven) months for being a member of KCP and later released on 23rd May earlier this year, 2012, the statement said and added that, he later joined URF as s/s 2nd Lieutenant and on the day of his arrest left the camp with the demand notes handed over to him by their s/s Secy Home, Moramba alias Biren of the same outfit.
The demand notes were addressed to two individual including Ms Leimatol Devi, w/o W Ingo Singh of Wangkhem Bazar and Mr Lokeshwor Singh of AS Enterprises, Kanglatongbi, the statement from the police added.
