KANGPOKPI, Aug.20: Zalaileng KPI clarified in a statement that the news item under the headline “Four UG cadres arrested by SFs” in The Sangai Express, English Edition Page 3, middle column, 3rd Para, 1st and middle row column reading “At the same time, a combined team of Thoubal District Commando and 14 AR arrested two PREPAK (Pro) cadres from Thoubal Okram on 14 August.
The SP of Thoubal identified the two arrested persons as Leimapokpam Anand, 27, son of (L) L. Abung of Phouden Keiranbi Thong Manak and Thangminlen Chongloi alias Abung, 30, son of Shemthang Kuki of Taphou Kanan Veng, Senapati District”. Clarifying the statement of SP Thoubal, Mr. Shemthang Kuki of Taphou met some media persons and stated that the statement of the SP might be as per the disclosure of the arrested person but I have no son by the name Thangminlen Chongloi alias Abung.
He further clarified, the arrested person in the name of Thangminlen Chongloi may be one Ibungo Nongmaithem, son of Bradhaja Nongmaithem of Khapotsangbam, Mamang Leikai, Bishenpur. Shemthang Kuki sai, Ibungo Nongmaithem was married with his daughter 5 years back having one son. Due to his uses of drugs and abusing his wife (daughter of Shemthang Kuki) they were divorced on 10 May, 2012.
He further said that, Ibungo Nongmaithem left his wife and son taking all the household belonging with him when he went away from their house. After that they had never meet again and had no more relation with him.
Shemthang Kuki said that the disclosure of Ibungo Nongmaithem as Thangminlen Chongloi taking my name as his father is baseless and absolutely false.
