2 killed in mishap

IMPHAL, Sept 6: Two lives were lost in separate accidents since yesterday in the state.

The first accident occurred in front of the Meitei Mayek High School, Kongba Bridge yesterday morning at around 10:30am. The victim identified as Md Abdul Wahid, 60 of Keirao Mating Awang Leikai was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a Maruti 800 from behind. He succumbed to his injuries at the JNIMS around 8pm.

Police have taken custody of the Maruti 800 involved in the case, while the dead body has been handed over to family members after post mortem was conducted at the JNIMS morgue.

Meanwhile, a worker of the North East Frontier Railways worker involved in the drilling of tunnels along the Imphal-Jiri railway track succumbed to injuries yesterday around 3:30pm after meeting in an accident while coming up form Tunnel no 7 at Khumbiron under Nungba PS.

The non-local worker identified as Manuj Gwala, 19 son of Madan Gwala of Lakhimpur, Assam died on the way to the hospital, while four others escape with minor accidents.

The dead body has been handed over to the railway authorities after post mortem was conducted at the RIMS.
