IMPHAL, September 29: Imphal West police today paraded two PREPAK (Pro) cadres arrested yesterday along with five lethod bomb shells.
Speaking to media persons this late morning at the Imphal West Commando Complex, Dy SP (Ops), Sarangthem Ibomcha said that on September 28 at around 10:30 am the Imphal West police received a reliable information that certain members of the PREPAK are going to hand over some explosive materials to be used to attack security forces in connection with the proscribed outfit’s Raising Day in and around the Singjamei area.
“Immediately, teams of CDO/IW rushed to the said area and conducted counter insurgency operation at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai near the construction site of a new bridge.”
He continued that the teams found two persons on two separate mopeds (Activa and Kinetic Honda) in a very suspicious manner.
The police detained the two for verification and during which the two identified themselves as Sarangthem Gourashyam Singh, aged 32, son of S Ibohal Singh of Kakching Khunou near Tampakyam LP School Leikai at present Naorem Leikai near Narasing Mandir and
Mayangbam Amarjit alias Mayamba Singh, aged 44, son of M Mangi Singh of Singjamei Wangma Mongkhang Lambi and as members of the banned UG group PREPAK (Pro).
On spot search of Gourashyam`s Activa, the police team found 15 plastic packets of Fuji Detergent in a box, out of which five of the Fuji packets were found to contain 5(five) Lethode bombs concealed inside the detergent, he continued.
The police officer further continued that on spot questioning, Gourashyam disclosed that the five lethode bombs concealed in the detergent packets were handed over to him by one self-styled captain of PREPAK (Pro) whom he identified as Koijam Deban alias Premcha alias Khamba son of (L) K Debo Singh of Khongman Mangjin Mamang pat leirak presently staying at Moreh.
Further according to the arrested Gourashyam, the explosives were handed over at Moreh through one unidentified Van, he said.
He also disclosed that Premcha gave the mobile no. of Amarjit and instructed to hand over the said articles to him, the police officer said.
Meanwhile, Amarjit also disclosed that Deban alias Premcha alias Khamba of PREPAK (Pro) instructed him to take possession of the lethode bombs from Gourashyam and to keep it ready to be used against the security forces and for other subversive activities in connection with the Raising Day of PREPAK (PRO), he said.
Amarjit also disclosed that he has been working under Deban for the last one year and under his instruction he had served several demand letters to various Government employees, contractors and various Government Departments etc, he said.
