IMPHAL, September 26: At least four cadres of the NSCN (IM) have been shot dead by rival group of the NSCN (K) in a heavy skirmish .The incident occurred at Mayung village riverbank which is located at least 20 km east of Tamenglong Police s Station. The encounter started at about 6 pm yesterday at the area which is also known as Duilon Village Part 2 or Wairangba Part 2 and lasted till about 4 pm today afternoon.
Sources said that 40 (IM) cadres came inside the K dominated area. The encounter was said to have claimed the lives of four cadres of NSCN (IM), but there has been no report of casualties with the other faction.
Various Naga bodies which tried to intervene in the regard were stopped by security personnel from proceeding further towards the area in account of their safety.
OC of Tamenglong police told IFP that the news about the encounter is registered but it is not know which UGs are involved in the encounter and how many fatalities have occured.
