4th mathematics competition held

IMPHAL, September 2: The 4th Mathematics Competition, 2012 for class VI to X was held today at five centres in various parts of the state organized by Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Imphal Area.

Briefing media persons at one of the centres here at Royal Academy High School, Namdunlong, GaichungpouGangmei, convenor of the organizing committee said that the competition is being organized  to promote build competent mathematics students as India has a poor number of competent maths students.

He further said that the subject of mathematic has become a subject fearsome for many students. If these kinds of completion are organized frequently it would surely help students build confidence towards the subject.      

Atleast one to two students from 60 villages of the state took part in the competition. A total of 150 students were seen taking part in the competition at Royal Academy High School, Namdunlong, Imphal.

Other centres include, Tamenglong Higher Secondary School, Tamenglong, Sharon English High School, Longmai and ChilChil Higher Secondary School, Senapati. 

The students who were participating the competition were seen with black badges as a sign of protest against the killing of a student leader, Chunthuigai Kamei of Makhom village in Senapati district. And a minute silence was also observed before the starting of the competition to condole the departed soul.
