IMPHAL, September 27: An irate mob thronged the Jiribam Police Station at around 9.30 pm today following Assam Rifle personnel manhandling different civil organization leaders and arrest of an individual.
Sources from Jiribam mentioned that two vehicles carrying personnel of 22 AR came to Sanakhong,Dibong where a lotto came was taking place at about 8 pm.
At the site, the security forces accosted several individuals and asked for identity proof. The personnel slapped the vice president of FRIENDS Jiribam Unit namely Thoudam Ratan,30,s/o late Th Sharat of Dibong.
The collected I cards were taken away by the personnel and a individual identified as Usham Dilip,35,s/o Dharma of Champanagar was seized by the AR and taken away.
In the regard,residents of the area including meira paibees has gathered outside Jiribam Police Station decrying the incident and release of the abducted person.
