CrPC imposed in Imphal East

IMPHAL, Sept 21: In view of public disturbances that are likely to happen in the coming days, the District Magistrate of Imphal East imposed prohibitory orders under Sub-section 2 of Section 144 CrPC, 1973.

The prohibitory orders came after the panchayat elections where there are complaints that officers in election duty does not act in a fair manner. The orders will came into from 6 am of September 5 till 6am of October 4.

The prohibitory order issued by the district magistrate prohibits assembly of five or more persons which is likely to turn unlawful in the area. It also prohibits carrying of sticks, stones, firearms and weapons or any other items which can hurt someone.

However, the prohibitory orders are not applicable to agencies of the government who are involved in the law and order and maintenance of essential services.

Anyone who wish to take out procession, public meeting, rally, etc within the said area may apply to the district magistrate for permission which otherwise will be deemed illegal, added the notice.
