IMPHAL, September 27: Continuing its demand for TET exam centres and form distribution centres in other districts, the Joint Coordinating Committee of Hill Area Students have today announced to continue with serious forms of agitations in case the state government fail to invite the committee with positive assurances within three days from today.
The declaration was made this afternoon during a press conference held at the ZSUM Imphal office.
Speaking to media persons, spokesperson, Stephen Disung said the committee had met with the state Chief Minister, Education Minister, Agriculture Minister and seven other MLAs yesterday however the meeting remained inconclusive.
The state Education Minister had however invited for a second round of talks with students bodies of both the hills and the valley on the issues, he said.
He however declared that the state authorities should extend the invite only if the government is willing to fulfil their demands within three days-time.
In case the government fail to fulfil their demands then the committee will undergo various forms of agitations.
The committee had been demanding Teachers’ Eligibility Test exam centres and form distribution centres in the hill districts and had earlier called a 48 hour hill districts bandh from the intervening night of September 23-24.
The bandh had however been largely ineffective due to opposition from the Kuki Students Organisation.
Coming strongly against the committee 42 hour bandh, the Kuki Students Organisation had said that the 48 hour bandh would not be allowed to be enforced in the Kuki dominated areas.
