IMPHAL, September 4: The Manipur University and Moirang College teams have booked the first two berths of the quarter final of the ongoing Inter College Football Tournament at the Kha Manipur College, Kakching.
Both teams however had to take the match to the tie-breaker to defeat their opponents today.
In the first ground match today, the Manipur University defeated the Liberal College team by 4-3 in the tie breaker.
The match was locked in an goalless draw till the end of the normal time.
The spot kick takers who scored for Manipur University are Khupjamang Haokip, Kienkhohao Khongsai, Thangkhogin Haokip and Akhongbam Pradipkumar.
Somendro, Sanjit and Thangmeiso scored the penalty shoot-out for Liberal college.
In the second ground match today, Moirang College defeated Regional College by 6-5 through the tie-breaker.
The normal time ended with both teams locked in a 1-1 scoreline.
Ashok scored in the 56th minute for Moirang college which was equalised in the 72nd minute by Anand for Regional college.
The five tie break scorers for Moirang college are Sony, Bikram, Johnty, Niraj and Tomba, while the Regional college scorers are Anand, Beckember, Jasobanta and Angamba.
The two winners from today will meet in the first quarter final on September 8.
