IMPHAL, September 8: Sanjenbam makha Leikai locals today staged a dharna at the locality against a life threat on a RTI activist by unidentified persons who have identified themselves as a valley based UG group.
The RTI activist is identified as Thokchom Ranjit Singh, 40 son of (L) Angou of the locality.
Speaking to media persons, Ranjit expressed that he had filed an RTI seeking information on the various developmental works taken up in the locality.
Through his RTI it was learnt that there had been several misappropriation regarding the government funds for the area.
He said he had also received several threats on the issue since some time back.
He said he received indirect however stringent life threats on his brother’s and a local youth’s mobile phones on September 2. The unidentified persons had threatened to kill him, he said.
The locals decrying such life threat had staged the sit in protest.
