IMPHAL, September 4: The Macha Leima, Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup has come out strongly against the Union Minster of Rural Development, Jairam Ramesh for making statements on the status of MGNREGS without understanding the ground realities of the state.

According to a release of Macha Leima, the Union Minister during a recent visit to the state had said that MGNREGS implementation in Manipur is the best when compared to other states. And he had declared that the people can make complaints to him in case there are any irregularities in the implementation of the scheme.

Without any knowledge of ground realities the Union Minister had proudly declared that it is implemented beat in the state, it said.

Since the state government has failed to hear the people pledges we should not stay quiet, it is now time to flood the Union Minster’s office with complain letter from the people, it further said.

It has further continued that under its guidance, twelve Job Card holders from Lairanjam Meijrao Gram Panchayat have submitted their complaints to the Union Minister to provide updated job cards and pass book. Furthermore, another 20 job card holders of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai Gram Panchayat have also submitted such complaints.

However, the state government and its concern authorities have remained mute to the people’s complaint, it added.

Further, Macha Leima does not support or hold any grudges against any candidates of the upcoming Panchayat election. However Macha Leima will continue to work for the betterment of the society, it said.

Macha Leima has further appealed to all concern to make the upcoming election a corruption free election.
