Man dies in poll altercation

IMPHAL, September 29: Following their grudges, altercation and physical assaults that took place during the recently concluded gram panchayat election, a man succumbed to his injuries early this morning at RIMS hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Ngangom Rajen, 60, son of late Chaoba of Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leirak at present Keithel Manbi under Patsoi police station. Post mortem was conducted and the lifeless body is handed over to his family members.

Earlier, on September 8, N Rajen was severly hurt and sustained head injury during the fight and was taken RIMS hospital for treatment. He was again taken to Raj Polyclinic from where he was referred back to RIMS hospital again where he succumbed to his injuried this morning.

N Rajen owns and run an electronic shop at his locality before his tragic accident.

A person suspected to be involved and identified as Maibam Momocha, 38, of Keithel Manbi is now in police custody in relation to the expiry of N Rajen.
