Manipur defeats AP in NE hockey tourney

IMPHAL, September 10: Host Manipur defeated Arunachal Pradesh by 6-2 in the last league match of the 64th Senior National Hockey Championship Men’s for North East Zone at the Khuman Lampak Hockey stadium.

Though the Arunachal Pradesh team played was defeated, the team played really well.

P Adeva of Manipur scored the first goal of the match in the 12th minute which was equalised in the next minute by S Boinao through a penalty corner.

Both teams were locked with the same 1-1 scoreline at the end of the first half.

Manipur scored five goals in the second half while, Arunachal scored just one.

Th Birjeet (45th, 51st), P Adeva (58th), P Priyokumar (59th) and P Jupiter (64th) scored for the Manipur team in the second half.

N Ruhikanta scored for Arunachal Pradesh in the second half.

The Manipur team were unable to convert any of its four penalty corners while, the Arunachal team scored once from its five.

One players each of both teams were booked with green cards during the match.
