Manipur,IMPHAL, September 6: Following several complaints raised by different section of the society over the increasing numbers and frequency of surrenders of underground outfits taking place, the Ministry of Home Affairs, MHA directed the concerned authorities that no surrender of any UG should take place until proper and appropriate verifications are made prior to the official surrender.

Speaking to IFP, a reliable source said, the move to verify the status of the underground outfit came from MHA after suspicion and complaints of fake or false surrender were reported.

Some of them wanted to get the benefits from the government after claiming or posing themselves as a UG, the sources added.

Those who are yet to surrender officially are being interrogated and their verification process is on by the police to establish the real identity and their history of involvement or not involved with any UG in some cases.

On the other hand, family members complained that they were simply arrested and does not belong to any UG group.
