Police remand for Lunghar accused

Manipur, IMPHAL, Sept 23: The two accused persons involved in the death of three villagers from Ukhrul district were today remanded to police custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate court, Ukhrul.

The accused persons are Nagtangmi, 52, son of Ronhung and Ningkhangam, 27, son of Alexander. They were remanded to police custody for six days. They were involved in the dead of three individual following the altercation that broke out between villagers of Lunghar and Sihai village on land demarcation matters.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector apprehended two drug peddlers at Lokchao.

The two were identified as Peter of Pallel and Momopa of Tengnoupal area. The duo were found in possession of 1,16,150 Sucet tablets and a little lesser number of Skuf tablets.

Later, the two peddlers along with their possession were handed over to Narcotic Control Bureau, Imphal, added the source.

In another report, 23 Assam Rifles of organized a painting and drawing competition at Nugdam Kuki on yesterday.

Altogether 25 students from different school participated in the event.

The event was concluded with a prize distribution.
