A TRIBUTE TO THE TEACHERS

Imphal, Manipur:

“A good teacher is like a candle. It consumes itself to light the way for millions”

Solemn tribute and honour to the teachers on the occasion of the Teachers’ Day was  held on 5th September 2012 at DBCMaram (Don Bosco College Maram).

The programme began at 9:20am by bringing God’s blessings on all the teachers by  Fr. N.J.Francis sdb. Students acknowledging teachers as being the incarnation of knowledge, a sage, a visionary, a philosopher, a nation builder and an architecture of personality… a number of colourful, mesmerizing, wonderful, stupendous, enthralling items like dump show, warmth of the soul, mime, the whistle dance, folk song, choreography and the hurt and the healer etc were staged.

It was an occasion for the students to salute the teachers for their committed dedicated and the caring touch that they have experienced from their true teachers. Fr. Dr. K.O. Sebastian sdb, the Rector in his speech expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation for Fr. Benny James sdb the principal and all the lecturers for their noble task in moulding and shaping the young minds.

He emphasized that the task of the teacher is great in making the students to be human. If not they can also make them to be killers, cheaters, despicable to the society. Finally he said that noble and precious is the gift of a good teacher. Sir Gunamani who spoke on behalf of the teachers compared the relationship between the teachers and students as sun and moon. He also said that teachers are the backbone of the students, educator, guide, adviser, friend, tutor, second parents etc. Fr Benny James sdb the principal, with the Wisdom of Solomon addressed teachers with immense gladness and sincere appreciation for the dedicated, selfless, relentless efforts in educating the young minds.

He also appreciated the students for their sincere love and affection shown to the teachers on this occasion. In his words of wisdom he stressed that teachers have the power to touch the life of each student incredibly. Students express their warmth of love to their beloved teachers through gifts and a fellowship meal.
