IMPHAL, September 7: An alleged woman KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) cadre was arrested by a team of Imphal East cdos and lady police today.
However a reliable source has identified the woman as a Narcotics and Border Affairs, Manipur Police constable.
A press release of the Imphal East SP has also informed that two identity cards issued by the Manipur Police dept bearing the same IC No 00318 were recovered from her possession.
The press release identified the woman as one Takhelchangbam (n) Ningthoujam (o) Geetanjali Devi, 31 wife of Ningthoujam Jotin Singh of Kumbi Thingel Leikai.
It has also informed that Geetanjali was arrested from the Kanglapark footpath near the Western Kangla gate at around 4:45pm.
During further verification, she disclosed that she is now working as a collector of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) group under one Ningthoujam ROmen Singh alias Nongdrenkhomba since January 2012.
Further according to the release, she had also disclosed that she was involved in extortion of money from many individuals and the extorted amounts have been handed over to the party leaders.
Other than the two police id cards, cash of Rs 1000, a cheque book issued by SBI against Account No 30514709930 and three nos of loose SBI banker’s cheque leaves duly signed and filled with amounts of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 2 lakh 56 thousand and 12 thousand respectively were recovered from her possession, the release added.
