IMPHAL, September 13: The National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) celebrated its 12th foundation day at Manipur Press Club, Major Khul today.

The function was attended by Sunil Karam, president, NIPCO, RK Ranendrajit, editor, Freedom, Yumnam Nabachandra, president, UCM, BM Yaima Shah, UPF and L Khupler Kom, advisor, NIPCO as presidium members.

Presidium members speaking at the function expressed their concern on the present scenario of the state.

Y Nabachadra said that the Indian politician cannot be trusted as they have two faces. They have never considered the issue of integrity of Manipur seriously. There is no expectation from them that they will do something to checking the increasing number of migrants in the state. These migrants can stay but under some conditions and their stay period should be fixed. And for these things implementation of Inner Line Permit in the state is a must, he added.

He further said that it is necessary to find out the internal idea behind the India Government’s denial on implementation of ILP in the state. And the idea behind it is to make the indigenous people to become the minority in the state so as to divert the main issues facing in the state. So, for this reason, all the civil society organizations, student bodies and the general public should be aware of the issue and should stand united to face it, he said.

Even the MLAs of Manipur are only there just for the sake of money nothing can be expected from them too. The need of the hour is for the people to stand united with sincerity, he further added.

RK Ranendrajit said that it the people only who shall bring change in a society and expressed the need for building a national character of our country/nation for ours generations to come. By seeing the daily news on newspaper it clearly shows that we have not yet received that taste of freedom, he added.

L Khupler Kom expressed the need for better communication between the hills and valley to bring unity among them and said that only shouting for integrity is no use, we need to show it in action.
