IMPHAL, September 24: A combined team of CDO Imphal East, CDO Thoubal, Army (Military Intelligence) and 28 Assam Rifles today at about 5 am launched search operation in the general area covering Andro Torongthel, Maringthel and Yambem village and arrested three active members of RFP/PLA.
Briefing media persons at his office, Kamei Angam Romanus, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East District, said that the search operations were launched as a part of the counter insurgency operation which have been launched by the CDO Imphal East as precautionary and preventative measures against the back drop of a series of bomb blast and hand grenade explosion since August 15 in the valley areas of the state and to disrupt any programme initiated by the RPF/PLA in connection with its rising day celebration on September 25.
The arrested persons have identified has Sharungbam Thoiba Meitei, 57, son of (L) S Leishang Meitei of Andro Torongthel Mayai Leikai, Mutum Shanta Singh, 40, son of M Tomba Singh of Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai and Yumkhaibam Chaothoi Singh, son of (L) Y Panjom of Andro Maringthel.
He further said that the above mentioned arrested persons revealed that were instructed to make/prepare numbers of flag, festoon, stars etc. for the raising day celebration of RPF/PLA on September 25 by s/s assistant division secretary identified as Hijam Babu Singh, 33, son of (L) H Sudol of Andro Kharam Leikai and s/s division secretary identified as Jayenta of Andro Uchon of division-II of RPF.
They further revealed that they collected information about the movement of security forces and transported arms, ammunitions and explosives as per the advice of s/s corporal Yumkhaibam Sharat Singh, 33, son of Y Shajou of Andro Machengpat of RPF, he added.
Meanwhile, Imphal West District police commandos arrested three active members of KCP during search operations at Lamphel Super Market area today and one KCP (MC) at Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak near oil pump yesterday respectively, said a police release.
According to the release, the arrested persons from Lamphel has been identified as Rajkumar Hemchandra alias Nelu, 28, son of (L) RK Bhagimisana of Uripok Khumanthem Leikai and presently staying at Langol Housing Type-III; Irangbam Ibungo Singh, 30, son of Achouba Singh of Lalambung; and Manglenthang alias Thathang Simte alias Smith, son of (L) Khupsoi Simte of Rumsam village, Churchandpur and presently staying at Langol Sector C-21.
The arrested person from Chingmeirong has been identified as Akoijam Thoi alias, 19, son of (L) AK Shyam of Mongsangei Mayai Leikai and presently staying at a rented house at Shangakpam Bazar.
