Social service by student bodies

IMPHAL, September 28: The Joint Students Coordinating Committee (JSCC) organized a One Day Social Service Camp. The camp was part of the 10 days long programme called Lamyanba Irabot Ningshing Thouram which kicked off on 21st Sept at G.P. Women’s College.

The social service camp was organized in a shelter home called Yaibilen Children Home located in Keibi Sanapat, Imphal East. Joint Student Coordinating Committee is an umbrella of six different student organizations, namely All Manipur Student Union (AMSU), Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Manipur Student Federation (MSF), Kangleipak Student Union (KSU), Student Union of Kangleipak (SUK) and Student Welfare Association of Kangleipak (SWAK).

The members of the student union not only took up the task of social service but also planted trees in the vicinity of the children home. The programme also had an interactive session between the members of the student union and the President Yangoi Piba and the Treasurer Pebam Nodiachand Meitei.

The interaction was in relation to the selfless sacrifice and contribution of our state and how because of his efforts, we still have our land. During the interaction it was expressed that there is a need to live along that the lines of Irabot’s ideology and that the sacrifices made by the people who struggled for our land should never be forgotten.
