TET centre or total bandh

IMPHAL, Sept 21: The Joint Tribal Student`s Coordinating Committee in its meeting held earlier at Chandel resolved to call a “total bandh” on September 24 and 25, if the state government fails to open TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) Centres in all the major districts of Manipur.

In a joint statement send via electronic mail, the presidents of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, Ukhrul, Zeliangrong Students` Union, Senapati District Students` Association and Chandel District Students Union expressed the need to open TET centres without fail, citing the problems faced by people residing in remote districts of the state.

The joint statement also lauded the state education minister and further expressed apprehension and warned to call a total bandh despite the assurance given by the education minister saying it will not “accept any verbal assurance”.
