IMPHAL, Sept 14: CDO Imphal West today killed an unidentified armed youth in retaliatory firing on September 12 after the youth hurled a hand grenade at the cdo team, said a press statement of the Imphal West SP.
According to the statement, the incident happened at around 10:15pm along the Mayai Lambi road near Hiyanthang Oil Pump.
As per a driving licence found from the body, the identity of the youth is one Pukhrambam Deepak son of P Shyamkanhai of Ningthoukhong Mamang Leikai Ward No 13.
The youth hurled a hand grenade when asked to stop for verification, the statement said.
It has also informed that one pistol which was found near the body of the unidentified youth has been recovered along with the motorcycle bearing regd no MN 06 SA 0785 which he was riding.
A mobile handset having Sim No 9856446963 was also found from the pocket of the deceased.
It has further informed that preliminary investigation and examination of the recovered mobile handset reveals that the slain youth was involved in extortion campaign of KCP (Noyon) and that the mobile contains various messages sent out to different individuals and hospitals demanding payments of huge extortion money.
