IMPHAL, Oct 16: The Maoist Communist Party, MCP Manipur has come out strongly against those who misused the NREGS funds meant for the poor by those who were former members and pradhans elected in the previous session.
In a statement issued to the press, the MCP has asked the members and pradhand to deposit the money to the bank accounts of the workers within five days.
The party also urged all local bodies including Meira Paibis and civil society organisation to pursue the issue and support the cause taken up by the party.
The statement also mentioned the incident of how the spouse of the present Speaker was appointed as under secretary to the Manipur Assembly Secretariat.
The MCP statement said they would react to any wrongdoings found committed against the interests of the poorer section of the society.
