Blood donation encouraged with sensitization camp

IMPHAL, October 31: As part of the one month long blood donation camp organized by the State Blood Transfusion Council from October 1 to October 31, a “one day sensitization workshop on voluntary blood donation cum blood donation camp” was held today at Lamphel Police Station.

The programme was jointly organized by the Imphal west district police and Manipur State AIDS Control Society and State Blood Transfusion Council, Manipur.

The function was attended by Inspector General of Police (LO-1), L Kailun, Director State Blood Transfusion Council Manipur, Dr LM Kom, Deputy Inspector General of Police Range-1, Clay Khongsai, Project Director, Manipur State AIDS Control Society, Dr Shailesh Kr Chourasia and Superintendent of Police, Imphal West, K Jayenta Singh as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively. 

Speaking as a resource person at the function, Red Cross Society member, Narendra Ningomba said that he is a regular blood donor and he had already donated blood 26 times so far and he is proud of it.

There are four blood banks in Manipur i.e. RIMS, JNIMS, Churachandpur hospital and Shija hospital, he said and encouraged the public to come forward to donate blood as it is a very noble act. 

Inspector General of Police, L Kailun led his fellow police officers and other police personals in the blood donating programme. Later, speaking at the function, L Kailun, said that he is very proud that he has donated blood today as it will help in saving someone’s life.

He also thanked MACS volunteers as well as officials and district police personnel for organizing the blood donation programme.
