IMPHAL, October 23: A team of Communist Party of India (CPI-M/L) from Delhi would visit Irom Chanu Sharmila to meet her face to face who is currently in the judicial custody.
As per the information received by IFP that the CPI-M/L Team, from its Delhi office, would lead by Sankar Das who is a member of party central committee and NE-in-charge.
The said visit of CPI-ML is a part of the itinerary taken up in the North East- region against the implementation of AFSPA, 1948 and to campaign for its removal, another source maintained.
The IFP source has said that efforts are also underway by the Manipur state Unit of CPI-ML to take approval from state Home department to meet the hunger-striker from the state. And further added that the state unit CPI-M/L Secretary S Syam Sunder, and other important leaders of the party namely, S Gopalmacha and Priyokumar would meet Sharmila along with the Delhi’s team on November 3, 2012, if the permission to meet her is granted by state home department.
