“Government has neglected unemployment problem”

IMPHAL, October 4: The government has totally neglected to find a solution to the problem of unemployment in the state, said All Manipur Working Journalists Union president A Mobi today during the 3rd Foundation Day of SEEP.

Speaking as the guest of honour, Mobi said there are more than 8 lakhs registered unemployed and many more unregistered unemployed in the state.

Mobi also stressed that it is hard to get a loan from the government due to several reasons and added that the Chief Minister had himself said in one of his recent speeches that it is hard to move a file in the government offices.

He had also spoke on the role of women in the development of our society and lauded all those women who have become doctors, engineers etc.

The 3rd foundation day of Socio-Economic Empowerment Project (SEEP) was held at Hotel Imphal, North AOC.

The function was organized by People for Social Development, PSD, Singjamei Mathak Chongtham Leikai and attended by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA RK Anand Singh as chief guest, PSD president, M Ibochouba Singh as president and Associate Prof. Comm Dept, MU Dr Robita Sorokhaibam and proprietor Meira foods H Subbhra Devi along with AMWJU president A Mobi as guests of honour.

MLA RK Anand said though we get to hear from certain quarters about Manipur being a failed state; when we compare our women with those of other states, our women are far more hard working than the others.

He continued that Manipur is rich in natural resources but we have failed to tap them and used it for our benefit.

While acknowledging women are better than men in our state, he said we need more empowerment for our women.

While stating that globalization cannot be stopped and need to gear up accordingly, he said several projects of the government are lying defunct due to the failure of the government policies which has further led to the growth of private financial institutions.
