‘HM assures arrest in Catherine case soon’

IMPHAL, October 4: The All Manipur Women Voluntary Association, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi, Lamkang Students’ Association, Chandel Naga People’s Organization and Lamkang Women Union today jointly staged a sit-in-protest at Pallel Bazar against the brutal killing of Kh Catherine Lamkang.

Kh Catherine, 15, daughter of Kh Simon of New Lamkang Khunthak, was found dead at Aimol road Laithok Ching in a suspicious manner on October 2.

Speaking with media persons, SK Towai, president of Lamkang Women Union, said, “We condemned the brutal killing; we will not claim the death body until and unless the involved person(s) in the alleged killing are arrested. This kind of incident should not be repeated.”

She further said that they have also submitted a momentum to the Chief Minister and Home Minister demanding arrest of the culprits involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, a JAC has been initiated in regard to the incident.

JAC members met Home Minister Gaikhangam today at his office where they were assured that the culprits involved in the case will be arrested within two to three day time, on which the JAC has agreed to collect the death body by tomorrow, said Gabriel, convenor of the JAC.
