IMPHAL, October 3: Altogether 30, 027 names have been deleted from the Manipur Final Photo Electoral roll for the electors failure to submit their particulars.
The Manipur Final Photo Electoral Roll is supposed to be released with January 1 as the qualifying date and the 30027 names have been deleted during the ongoing Special Revision of Photo Electoral Roll spanning all 60 constituencies of the state.
Sources said that during the special revision, 166 names with the same credentials have been found in two different constituencies, however full effort is on to check the doubling and maintain a proper record.
Speaking to IFP on this regard, Imphal West Election Officer, N NGANGJAO Singh said the special revision of Photo Electoral Roll had commenced from October 1 led by the Manipur Chief Electoral Officer, CEO under the advice of the Election Commission of India, ECI.
He continued the revision exercise will span all 60 constituencies of the state and will end on October 31.
He further told IFP that electors have been deleted after their failure to submit their particulars even after repeated reminders from their concern Electoral Returning Officers, ERO and SDO/SDMs under the advice of the Election Commission of India to the CEO, Manipur.
Even after several reminders to submit their photos, the said 30027 names have failed to do so and as such they have been deleted as not genuine electors.
He however informed that the said deleted electors can submit their photos and related documents and register themselves again before the ongoing special revision ends on October 31.
When asked if the deleted persons could be illegal migrants, the Election Officer said the list of the 30027 is available with the Manipur Assistant Chief Electoral Officer (ACEO/Manipur) office.
He further informed that after the recent 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, the numbers of polling stations in all 60 constituencies of the state will be increase before the upcoming Lok Sabha Election.
The polling stations in Imphal West district which has 13 Assembly Constituencies will be increased to 509 from 393 polling stations.
He also continued that a designated officer has been appointed for each Polling Station in all 60 Assembly Constituencies.
During the ongoing Special Revision of Photo electoral Roll a person who is above the age of 18 can register themselves under Form No VI, while under Form No VII names of dead persons, married or anyone who have relocated can be deleted.
