TET still a dilemma in Hill Districts

IMPHAL, October 14: The Joint Committee of Hill District Students Organisation (JCHDSO) comprising of TKS, CDSU, NSUC, ZSUM, SDSA and TSA General HQ has extended its imposition of economic blockade by three days following a meet with the state Education Minister and two MLAs from the Hill districts today.

The student body had threatened to impose indefinite economic blockade from the midnight of October 15 on all the national highways demanding the state government to open Teacher’s Eligibility Test exam centres in all Hill districts.

Speaking to media persons today, a spokesperson of the student body informed that today’s meet with State Education Minister M Okendro Singh which was also attended by MLAs MK Preshow, Z Kikhonbou Newmai and Dr V Alexander Pao was held at a place at Deulahland.

Further speaking to media persons, Convenor of Joint Committee of Hill District Students Organisations D Stephen said, the student body has decided to provide the government with three day’s time to find a solution to its demands.

Nonetheless the union will impose an indefinite economic blockade from the next day onwards in case the government fail to fulfil its demand within the stipulated time, he added. Continuing his tirade over the government’s failure to fulfil the student body’s demand, he said that today’s meet failed to bring any fruitful solution to the TET impasse.

He continued that the government should not be biased in conducting the TET exam and further added that even though the government has already decided to institute TET exam centres in the Hill districts, the government has always postponed the dates.

He also said that when asked about the delay, the government team had termed lack of infrastructure and insufficient technical services for the postponing.
