60th Anniv of Indo-Japan diplomatic relations celebrated

IMPHAL, November 20: The 60th anniversary of the Indo-Japan Diplomatic relations was held today at the Anallon Christian Institute at Chandel.

The function was attended by Minister Embassy of Japan in India Takeshi Osuga and First Secretary Embassy of Japan, Koju Matsubayashi, CHandel MLA St Nunghlung Victor and Chandel Deputy Commissioner Th Chittaranjan Singh as guests of honour.

The function was organized by Anallon Christian Development Committee.

Speaking at function, then chairman of the ACDC, L Wolring said “On this momentous occasion of celebration of 60th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and India that maintained a close bond of friendship since April 1952”.

He said that in commemorating the 60th Anniversary here at Anallon Christian Institute, Lambung in Chandel District of Manipur State would be an opportunity for us to have a stronger and closer bond of friendship between the people of Japan and people of Manipur, India.

The historic visit has brought better hope to economically poor tribal population.

“I would like to make a special mention of moral support and timely financial assistance extended to Anallon Christian Development Committee for construction of school building for primary section at Anallon Christian Institute, Lambung, Chandel, Manipur by the Government and the people of Japan despite of having gone through devastating earthquake and Tsunami disaster on March 11, 2011. This is the true love, goodwill and commitment of Japanese people.”

“The Executives of Japan Embassy in New Delhi will be invited at the inaugural function during the last week of March, 2013”, he continued.

In Manipur, 100 % free education is provided to the school children in the age group of 6 – 14 yrs in Govt. Schools and 25 % of school children under BPL are given free education in private schools, he continued.

In regards to this National Education Policy, our organization i.e. Anallon Christian Development Committee (ACDG) has provided free education to 25 % of school children under the Hope of Kankhu Education Programme (HOKEP) for the last few years.

It would be unfair if the achievement of Anallon Christian Institute is not mentioned that so far more than 7120 students got registration since its inception in 1975 and 1246 students have passed High School Leaving Certificate Examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and NIOS since 1991 till date.
