IMPHAL, November 7: The 48 hours indefinite bandh called jointly by the Naga Chiefs’Association, Chandel, the Kuki Chiefs’Association, Chandel, the Naga Students’Union, Chandel and the Kuki Students’Organization, Chandel calling for the removal of EE, DRDA Chandel, has been suspended following an assurance from the Chandel MLA.
According to a joint press release of the four organizations, the bandh was called off after the assurance given by Victor Nunglung Anal MLA Chandel during a meeting with various social organizations at his official quarter at Lamphelpat today.
The release further expressed gratitude to one and all for their co-operation during the agitation.
However, they further warned the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel , not to entertain any cheques related to DRDA Chandel till the problem is solved, it warned further.
It may be reminded that the proposed 48 hours bandh was called in Chandel district and along the National Highway 2, Imphal-Moreh road, with effect from the midnight of November 4 and was to be continued indefinitely before it got suspended.
