Francis thanks Manipur at memorial service

IMPHAL, November 4: The 9th death anniversary of (L) Baby Lungnila Elizabeth was observed at several places in the state. Family members held a memorial service at the Church of the Don Bosco High School, Chinmeirong.

The service was also attended by students of Little Flower School, where (L) Baby Lungnila Elizabeth was studying before she was kidnapped and subsequently found murdered.

During the service floral tributes were paid to a picture of the late student and a one minute silence was also observed.

(L) Baby Lungnila Elizabeth’s father, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Francis Ngajokpa said in his word of thanks that Manipur is one of the most magnificent places on earth.

He said once peace settles in the state; it would become “heaven on earth”.

Elaborating that the most needed thing in Manipur at present is peace, the Minister urged the people of the state to start spreading peace and love starting from themselves.

Today’s function was also attended by state Education Minister, M Okendro Singh.

Meanwhile in a separate observation, students of Kanglei Sports Academy, Kyamgei remembered Lungnila Elizabeth on her 9th death anniversary today.

The students along with local elders of Kyamgei held an observation function of Lungnila’s 9th death anniversary today at the residence of Kh Inaoba Singh, advisor of the academy at Kyamgei.    

Floral tributes were paid and a two minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul by students and locals during the function.
