Japan centre at THAU

IMPHAL, November 19: Embassy of Japan in India, Minister Takeshi Osuga accompanied by the Embassy’s First Secretary Koju Matsubayashi inaugurated a Japan Information Center at the THAU complex today.

The Japanese team is on a two day visit in the state.

Today’s inaugural function was organized by the Indo Japan Friendship Association, Manipur and THAU.

Speaking at the function today, Takeshi Osuga expressed that one day the Japanese Ambassador in India will visit the state in the near future, especially after the opening of the information center today.

The visit is part of the Japanese embassy’s annual visit to the state, he said.

A predecessor had asked him to visit important locations in India as much as he can while in office, he said.

Elaborating on the relation between the small state of Manipur and Japan, he said the two places have a relation going way back in the past.

He said the younger generation in Japan knows a lot about Manipur and its capital Imphal.

2012 is the 68th anniversary year of diplomatic relation between Japan and Manipur, he said before adding that he expressed his hope that it will continue.

With the inauguration of the centre today, people needing information on Japan can come and collect it from here, he said.
