Manipur men, Mizoram women crowned respective team champions

    IMPHAL, November 4: The 76th men’s and 20th women’s Eastern India Weightlifting Championship 2012 at SAI-SAG hall, Khuman Lampak concluded today.

    The Manipur men’s team was crowned men’s team champion, while the Mizoram women’s team was crowned women’s team champion.

    Kh Jojo of Manipur won the best lifter in men’s and Lal Chhanhimi of Mizoram won the best lifter in women’s.

    Manipur earned 528 points to secure the championship title, while Mizoram with 504 points was adjudged runner-up in the men’s section of the championship.

    Mizoram earned 617 points to secure the championship title, while Manipur with 596 points was adjudged the runners-up in the women’s section.

    Mizoram bagged 7 gold and 5 silver medals.

    Manipur bagged 6 gold, 3 silver and one bronze medals.

    In the men’s 85 kg, M Romanta of Manipur bagged gold by lifting 110 kg in snatch, 136 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 246 kg, Sumanta Das of West Bengal bagged silver by lifting 87 kg in snatch, 122 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 209 kg, and Sukanta Das of Tripura bagged bronze by lifting 85 kg in snatch, 110 kg in clean and jerk with a total point of 195 kg.

    In the men’s 94 kg, A Thoungamba Singh of Manipur bagged gold by lifting 94 kg in snatch, 115 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 209 kg, Indranil Chitrakar of West Bengal bagged silver by lifting 86 kg in snatch, 122 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 198 kg, and T Kabir Singh of Meghalaya bagged bronze by lifting 83 kg in snatch, 100 kg in clean and jerk with a total point of 183 kg.

    In the men’s 105 kg, Lalrem Ruata of Mizoram bagged gold by lifting 85 kg in snatch, 115 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 200 kg, Shams Tabrez of Bihar bagged silver by lifting 81 kg in snatch, 110 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 191 kg, and Sneh Asish Sarkar of Tripura bagged bronze by lifting 73 kg in snatch, 97 kg in clean and jerk with a total point of 170 kg.

    In the men’s 105 plus kg, K Lalram Mawia of Mizoram bagged gold by lifting 90 kg in snatch, 115 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 205 kg, Paritosh Das of Tripura bagged silver by lifting 70 kg in snatch, 90 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 160 kg, and Md Dhaiyan of Tripura bagged bronze by lifting 65 kg in snatch, 90 kg in clean and jerk with a total point of 155 kg.

    In the women’s 69 kg, Lal Chhanhimi of Mizoram bagged gold by lifting 70 kg in snatch, 95 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 165 kg, K Bela Devi of Manipur bagged silver by lifting 53 kg in snatch, 67 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 120 kg, and Tumina Devi of Arunachal Pradesh bagged bronze by lifting 52 kg in snatch, 67 kg in clean and jerk with a total point of 119 kg.

    In the women’s 75 kg, Putul Sharkar of West Bengal bagged gold by lifting 62 kg in snatch, 79 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 141 kg, YM Nafisha of Meghalaya bagged silver by lifting 62 kg in snatch, 78 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 136 kg, and Chitali Bor of West Bengal bagged bronze by lifting 57 kg in snatch, 78 kg in clean and jerk with a total point of 133 kg.

    In the women’s 75 plus kg, Y Lairentombi of Manipur bagged gold by lifting 70 kg in snatch, 95 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 165 kg and Lal Chhandam of Mizoram bagged silver by lifting 65 kg in snatch, 75 kg in clean and jerk with a total weight of 140 kg.
