State out from team events of ongoing jr Nat badminton

IMPHAL, November 12: Both boys’ and girls’ team of the state have been ousted from the team event of the ongoing 37th Junior National Badminton Championship at the Khuman Lampak stadium.

The state boys’ team was defeated by Chhattisgarh by 2-1 in the Boy’s team event which is also known as the Narang Cup.

In the first singles of the team event, Shreyas Jaswal of Chhattisgarh retired from the match after the first set against I Yaitomba of Manipur. Yaitomba had won the first set by 22-20.

In the first doubles match, the Chhatisgarh pair of Shreyas Jaswal and Sanyam Shukla defeated the Manipur pair of I Yaitomba and RK Devjit by 21-15, 21-12.

In the second singles which was also the deciding match, Sanyam Shukla defeated RK Devjit by 21-18, 21-18.

The Chhattisgarh team has entered the semi final. In other matches of the day, Kerala defeated Assam by 2-1 while, West Bengal defeated Chandigarh by 2-1.

In the girls’ team event, which is also known as the Safi Qureshi Cup, Manipur was defeated by Kerela by 2-0.

In the first singles, Agna Anto of Kerala defeated Y Dhanabati of Manipur by 21-11, 21-09, while in the first double, Agna Anto and Malvika JK defeated the Manipuri pair of M Somibala and N Purnima by 21-17, 21-09.

In other matches of the girls team event, West Bengal defeated Air India by 2-1.
