IMPHAL, December 6: A five day workshop on ‘Indigenous archery & classical Indian archery’ organized by Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association begins today at the association’s premise at Irilbung.
The workshop is being conducted by Hendrik Wiethasi, who is a professional artist from Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany.
“Since 2000 I wrote and published four books about archery. As well I translated the “Astanga hrdayam,” the basic scripture of Ayurveda and the “Dhanurveda” into German language, which brought me to the classical Indian Archery,” Hendrik said.
The inaugural function was attended by MLA K Tharmajit, Padmashri G Gourakishor Sharma, Director, Huyen Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association, L Upendro Sharma, Director, JNMDA and L Dilip Singh, chairman, Imphal Urban Co-operative Bank Manipur as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
