Bandh supporter injured in police firing

IMPHAL, December 1: Police firing to control bandh supporters at Thoubal this evening led to the injury of one of the supporters at Thoubal.

The JAC formed against the killing of one Yanglem Bisheshwar alias Naoba, 32 son of Y Basanta Singh had imposed a district bandh along with locals since this morning 8 am demanding the arrest of the culprits by this evening.

The firing incident happened this evening around 6:20pm at the Thoubal parking along the NH 2.

The injured identified as Huirongbam Manichandra, 64 of Thoubal Wangmataba has been admitted at the Shija Hospital with chest and leg injuries and said to be in a critical condition.

Manwhile, the JAC also submitted a memorandum to the Thoubal DC.

Representatives of the JAC also held a meeting with the DC however the meeting failed to bring any amicable solution.

Meanwhile, NEWMAI NEWS Network adds: The JAC then met with the Chief Minister at his bungalow in Imphal.

The meeting with the chief minister also failed to bring any solution to end the stalemate. The JAC, however, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister O Ibobi. The memorandum urged the CM to take steps to book the culprits involved in the killing of Naoba by December 5.

It said the indefinite bandh being enforced by the JAC will continue until the state Government books the culprits.

Meanwhile, a 12-hour Manipur bandh has been called from 6 am of Sunday in connection with the disappearance of one Nitin Masih of Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the indefinite Thoubal district bandh call given by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) seeking justice in the killing of Yanglem  Naoba turned ugly Saturday with a bandh supporter injuring in police firing. The strike has also disrupted traffic on Imphal-Moreh road.

Meanwhile, the JAC formed against the missing of Nitin Masih, a native of Indore, Madhya Pradesh has called another 12-hour Manipur bandh beginning 6 am of Sunday.
