Bandh supporter succumbs to injury

IMPHAL, December 2: A bandh supporter who had sustained bullet injuries in police firing yesterday, succumbed to his injuries this early morning at Shija hospital.   

The deceased has been identified has Huirongbam Manichandra, 64, of Thoubal Wangma Taba. He was admitted to Shija hospital yesterday evening after he sustained bullet injuries on his chest and legs.

The firing incident happened yesterday evening at around 6.20 at Thoubal parking along the National Highway number 2, when the police fired several rounds to disperse the bandh supporters.  

The death body of Manichandra has been deposited at JNIMS morgue where Yanglem Bisheshwar’s body is deposited. 

Yanglem Bisheshwar was killed by unknown person(s) in the early morning of November 30, following which a JAC was formed and the said bandh was called protesting the killing.    

The post mortem of Huirongbam Manichandra’s body will be performed tomorrow in the presence of District Magistrate with full video coverage of the post mortem. 

It may be mention here that the JAC formed against the killing of Yanglem Bisheshwar submitted a memorandum to the state Chief Minister yesterday, demanding to find the culprits involved in the killing of Bisheshwar before December 5 and further stated that they will continue their indefinite bandh along the NH-2 until the state government book the culprit(s).
