BOSEM`s 40th anniversary observed

IMPHAL, December 21: Th inaugural function of the 40th Anniversary celebration of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur was held today at the auditorium of the MFDC, Palace gate.

The anniversary celebration was organized by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi who was to attend the function as the Chief Guest failed to show up for the function.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Education Minister M Okendro Singh, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Parliamentary Secretary of Hort. & Soil conservation, CADA Vungzagin Valte, MLA Ng Bijoy Singh, MLA MK Preshaw Shimray, MLA V Alexander Pau and BOSEM chairman P Dhanakumar Singh as Chief guest, President and guests of honor respectively.

During the celebration, mementos were presented to 40 toppers of the HSLC examination starting from 1973 to 2012 including Principal Secretary, Commerce & industries O Nabakishore Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister M Oken said that the education system in Manipur needs to be uplifted. He elaborated that in the process of strengthening the education system in the state, the Government has taken up many programs and schemes like SSA and RMSA. He further warned that the concerned contractors who do not carry out their contract work within the given time are to be booked under the law of court. He stated that AMITY University has shows its interest to set up one of its centres in the state.

President of the inaugural function Minister Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Francis Ngajokpa remarked in good humor that normally those who are not achievers are put on the dias. He further added the need to implement moral education and sex education to students in schools. Claiming that he did not have the ability to read and write in Hindi, he suggested the inclusion of Hindi syllabi, considering the reach of the language at the national level. He further appealed to all civil organizations not to interfere into academic issues and lamented over students indulging in demonstrations, agitations and dharnas.
