JAC against missing non-local extends bandh by a day

IMPHAL, December 2: The JAC against the missing of Nitin Masik has today extended its 12 hour state wide general strike by another 24 hours.

The Imphal-Moreh highway will also be indefinitely blocked from December 4.

Demanding an investigation in the missing case, the JAC had called a 12 hour state-wide general strike starting from 6am this morning, however the JAC has decided to extend it by another 24 hours.

The JAC also distributed leaflets, pamphlets and used loudspeakers in several areas including Kakching town, Kakching Lamkhai, Keirak announcing the extension of the general strike today.

According to the JAC, the general strike will continue till 6pm of November 3.

However in case the government or all concerned fail to clarify about the whereabouts of the non-local by the end of the general strike, the JAC will impose an indefinite blockade along the Imphal-Moreh stretch of the NH 2 from December 4.

Meanwhile, around 60 vehicles including buses, trucks, vans, DI Tatas, tata Sumos coming towards Imphal from Moreh were blocked at Kakching Lamkhai this late evening at 8pm.

However the vehicles were allowed passage with strict warning not to return after the owners and drivers apprised the general strike supporters that they had no information about the extension of the bandh and had believe that the general strike had ended by 6pm itself.

Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that Nitin Masik of Madhya Pradesh had arrived in the state to attend the Ningol Chakkouba with his wife.

Nitin Masik is married to AMila Devi daughter of Naorem Manao Singh og kakching Wairi Pung Pareng and has a daughter from the marriage.

The husband and wife are said to be working as lab technician and nurse at the Mission Hospital, Indore.
