State Govt failed to handle emotive issues: RK Meghen

GUWAHATI, December 24: UNLF Chairman RK Meghen, also known as Sanayaima was produced at the NIA Special Court in Guwahati along with other 12 accused. Speaking to media person before his court appearance, the chairman said that the it was very unfortunate that a woman was physically assaulted in Chandel district in public. He said that one must not take that the crime was committed against one woman only but must be taken as an insult against women society.

Maintaining that the incident was strongly condemnable, he further added that the heinous act is strongly condemned by all communities of Manipur which shows a feeling of oneness.

The UNLF chairman said that the most important thing to understand is that the Govt. of India and NSCN-IM cease fire is not extended to Manipur and that there needs to be a examination on why a NSCN-IM cadre who is also said to be the finance secretary of the outfit can roams freely attending public functions where Assam Rifles and state forces were present. He also said that it is unfortunate that the state government is failing in handling emotive issue by firing live bullets, killing a journalist.

RK Meghan further appealed the entire people of Manipur, particularly the Meitei community not to be communal in their actions. He further appealed to let hill people to travel to their native villages to attend Christmas Eve and expressed hope that the people of Manipur will rise above communal sentiments and come together to act against wrong doers.
