IMPHAL, December 2: The managing members, executive staffs, children of Zauzian Children Home of Indigenous Women and Children Foundation (IWCF) have expressed solidarity with the aspirations of the people for peace and unity to reign among the conflicting groups.

A press statement has said that the IWCF stands for a peaceful, united and vibrant community.

“As the breeze of Christmas Peace slowly but steadily is warming up, we earnestly appeal for the cessation of hostilities. We are greatly concerned over the aggravating armed conflict between the armed cadres of Nation Workers resulting in senseless killing, and continued creating fear environment particularly in Tamenglong District headquarter and its adjoining areas that inflict indelible fear and trauma among our people, particularly the innocent women and children”, it said.

“We desire to convey to the involved parties the terrible plight of our people which especially after the sunset has curtained our fundamental freedom of movement, associate and to withstand all economic, social and cultural activities. The plight of our women and children, who suffer from insecurity, fear of indiscriminate firing or broke out of gun fight, has led to fledge from the home shed to comparatively safer place. Desertion of our lively activities as evening approach is quite alarming and should the situation worsen, it is certain that the number of fledging will unmanageably escalate”, it said.

This could imminently lead to starvation and infirmity, the release said.
